Ptarmigan Elementary School Assistant Principal Chantel Black named AAESP 2024 National Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year

The Alaska Association of Elementary School Principals is proud to announce their National Outstanding Assistant Principal for 2024 is Chantel Black, Assistant Principal of Ptarmigan Elementary School in Anchorage.

Black was nominated and selected through a statewide search process conducted by the Alaska Association of Elementary School Principals.

Black graduated from the University of Wyoming in Laramie with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and went on to receive her Master of Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.

Prior to beginning her service as the Assistant Principal at Ptarmigan Elementary School in 2022, Black was an Assistant Principal in Quinhagak, Alaska as well as serving as the Principal in Eek, Alaska both schools are located in the Lower Kuskokwim School District.

This program promotes excellence in educational leadership and calls attention to the fundamental importance of the assistant principal.
