NASSP National Principal of the Year 2010
The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and Phi Delta Kappa International (PDK) have released "A Voice from the Middle," a Harris Interactive poll of over 1,800 middle school students. The poll reveals students' high aspirations for college, but a lack of clarity about how to get there. See details here. ![]() The Youth Vote Ambassador Program inspires participation in civic activities by allowing students to serve as Election Poll Workers, assisting the Division of Elections. Poll Workers are paid to serve at polling places across the state on Election Day. Students at least 16 years old, who are in good standing at their school, are encouraged to apply. The Alaska Parent Information and Resource Center (AKPIRC) offers PowerPoint presentations to help parents/caregivers better understand how they can help their child transition more smoothly into kindergarten, middle school, or high school.
