The Aspiring Principal Scholarship is named in honorof former Alaska High School principal and AASSP Executive Director, Larry Graham, inrecognition of his outstanding advocacy of the important leadership role ofprincipals.
Any aspiring principal enrolled in a program leading to an Alaska Type B administrative Certificate is eligible to apply. Preference will given to applicants currently enrolled in the University of Alaska Educational Leadership Program (any UA campus)
The annual scholarship is for $750/semester for 6 degree credits, not to exceed$1500 for one year. Funds are paid directly to financial aid in December and August. Scholarship recipients must complete the program within two years of starting enrollment and must maintain a 3.5 GPA with verification by sealed transcriptand verification of enrollment for two semesters.
The scholarship selection committee consists of representatives from AAESP and AASSP, Larry Graham (or designee), and may include any of these following representatives or groups: UA Educational Leadership Program, Alaska PTA, and an At-Large representative (Chamber, Alaska Legislature, etc).
The funding source for this scholarship is the proceeds from the annual Larry Graham Aspiring Principal Silent Auction, held during the President's Reception as part of the annual Alaska Fall Principals Conference. Additional funds may come from donations received by private individuals or entities.
